Learning to Enjoy Art Exhibition : Episodes

This exhibition introduces a variety of episodes related to artists and their works, helping visitors to better understand the Ishibashi Museum of Art and modern art in general.
The exhibition of about 160 works is designed to help visitors to make new and enjoyable discoveries about how various works and artists represented in the collection are interconnected.

Special Exhibition “Comparative Exhibition” Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Bridgestone Museum of Art, Part 1
March 31 (Saturday) - June 24 (Sunday), 2012
The first part of the special exhibition celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Bridgestone Museum of Art Compare two works of art, and through that comparison discover new fascination and unexpected depths.
The exhibitions covers from the BC through modern eras and spans Western art, Japan and China, in a wide range of genres including paintings, prints, sculpture and crafts.
A total of about 120 pieces from the Ishibashi Collection are on display, in about 60 pairs.

Special Exhibition “You’ve Got to See These Paintings” Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Bridgestone Museum of Art, Part 2
July 7 (Saturday) - October 14 (Sunday), 2012
The second part of the special exhibition celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Bridgestone Museum of Art About 120 outstanding works from the Ishibashi Collection, including portraits, nudes, stories, mountains and rivers, are introduced by subject and genre.
In addition to Western-style paintings usually only on display at the Bridgestone Museum of Art, the exhibition is divided thematically to help enjoy the Ishibashi Collection to the fullest.

Eight Artists (tentative title)

About 120 works by the eight key artists who form the core of the Ishibashi Collection are on display: FUJISHIMA Takeji, OKADA Saburosuke, AOKI Shigeru, SAKAMOTO Hanjiro, FUJITA Tsuguharu (Léonard Foujita), YASUI Sotaro, KOGA Harue and Henry MOORE.
An exhibition of craft items is planned for the Asian Gallery.
